Support and consulting work

As part of the “Ukrainische Kameraden” project, we also provide support to veterans and military service members in Hamburg. This assistance includes arranging appointments with specialists, accompanying individuals to medical appointments and during hospital stays, as well as providing support when dealing with various government agencies and social institutions.

Social counselling for veterans is provided through the general counselling services of “Feine Ukraine”. However, veterans are entitled to receive priority assistance without having to wait in line.

Over the course of the project, we have established an extensive network of medical institutions and doctors who are willing to support our veterans and military service members by providing the necessary medical care and professional advice.

Hospital visits are not only intended to provide practical assistance with translation and communication with medical staff. They also help people feel that they are not alone during a difficult time.

Conversations and shared home-cooked meals are a special form of therapy in themselves.

For people who do not speak German, dealing with public authorities and official institutions can often be difficult and may put them at a disadvantage compared to others. This is why the guidance and support provided by the project are so important: they help people feel more confident, better understand the processes involved, and be assured that their concerns will be properly considered and addressed.

Having support is especially important when you find yourself in a foreign country facing problems, bureaucratic challenges, or illness on your own. The opportunity to receive help, advice, and personal assistance not only contributes to resolving practical issues but also provides a sense of security, care, and confidence that you are not alone in facing your challenges.
